BD Monocle

The man with the monocle
Walked up to the bar
And ordered his favourite Gin...
(And this is, of course, the way in which
Every good story begins...)
He limped to his seat,
As he had blistered feet,
To let his new situation sink in

For his sins, so it goes,
And his numerous woes,
He would get presents of varying size.
Four and twenty in number
From the 1st of December,
Fear struck was his monocled eye.

He should learn that the paw
From a Monkey of yore
Is a devil and wicked old thing,
But he'd made the request that
Gifts litter his desk
And now he's experiencing the sting.

So take care in what you wish for
As they do so often come true
And be thankful that the blistered, monocled man
Is receiving these gifts, and not you.
